On-the-job training impacts adviser plans for fall

There are a lot of teachers at the Reynolds Institute who have a strong background in journalism. I'm supposed to be one of them, since I have a degree in journalism and actual work experience with two dailies in my state.
I did that for two years; I have been teaching for 15. Needless to say, a lot has changed in the past 15 years! Having to write on deadline, take my own news photos, and find sources and interview them is a challenge for us all, I think, even those with journalism experience. I know I'm not feeling like I have many advantages. This is my third blog EVER, and I still haven't figured out this Mac I'm typing on. Tomorrow I'll be working on video vignettes, and that will be something completely out of my comfort zone.
I'm not complaining, though. I'm walking in the shoes I'm expecting my newspaper staff to wear, and I think the on-the-job training we're receiving at the Reynolds Institute is probably going to have the biggest impact on how I teach and advise my newspaper students.
