Beware the delete button

According to Dave Cornelius, there are several points we should keep in mind with an online newspaper:
  • Update daily
  • Write quickly
  • Clarity
  • Accuracy
  • Benefit of immediacy
  • Easy to navigate and follow
  • Use fonts that are easy to read
  • Include links
  • Include a blog
  • It is permanent
The permanent point to me is probably the most important to remember. Anything that has been posted online, ANYTHING; someone, somewhere, somehow will be able to find it. Even if it has been deleted before. Be careful, it will be written "in stone."

  1. That reality you mentioned is one of the biggest deterrents for me fully embracing all the new technological advancements. I don't necessarily want information I post to be permanently floating on the Web. While the Internet has so many advantages and benefits, I think this is a great reminder to our students as we start moving toward online publications.
