Actually, in this case (since I didn't pay admission), it was worth more. Worth the price of rubies? Something like that.
I am speaking, of course, about the InDesign session Friday afternoon, led by Bill Pliske, Senior Editor/Presentation (aka design director) of the Arizona Republic. He taught those of us who already had some knowledge of InDesign. Bless him, he kindly fielded question after question with the skill of a Gold Glove (do they give Gold Gloves for presentations?). We didn't even let him get into a real presentation, which I'm sure he had prepared and spent hours on.
I learned how to create a template of our paper, set paragraph styles & character styles, and make a library. I'm so excited! I wish I was at school right now so I could get all that stuff on the server whilst I still remember how. Okay, I don't really wish I was at school. But I took really specific notes so I won't forget how to do it all. Honestly, with all the things I'm learning here at the ASNE Reynolds Institute, my little head is crammed. But this session is in the Top 3 Totally Worth It sessions.
