Final Cut Pro Causes Some Frustration...

While the Final Cut Pro software is obviously very useful in the video editing process, on Wednesday evening it presented some very intense issues for a very intelligent group of journalism instructors.

As one who has used iMovie and Movie Maker to personally edit the videos of my broadcast journalism classes, I was extremely excited to hear that we'd be utilizing Final Cut Pro,  a much more advanced and professional software. The process, however, appears to be rather strenuous.

Very rarely do I find it difficult to familiarize myself with new software products, but I do believe that Final Cut Pro will take some time to learn.

While waiting on our clips to load this evening I did a google search on Final Cut Pro, and although it tried its best to frustrate me tonight- I'm still very curious to learn it. I've already visited one of my teacher discount sites and priced the software. With the tutorials provided to us tonight and some individual practice, I do intended to tackle Final Cut Pro even after the institute is over.

  1. I was frustrated, too, but less with FinalCutPro and more with the download time of our videos.

Suggestion next year: start the downloads before dinner.

  3. It was a pretty frustrating session - atleast the advance section. But once I threw in the towel and made my way to the beginners section, I realized the error may have begun with my choice of training sessions.

Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed how calm and composed everyone was and how they seemed to be soaking up the knowledge being handed down to them by their instructor, Steve Elliott. Even if they only had a clip or two they seemed quite content and almost giddy playing with their new toy.

I wanted nothing more than to share in their joy and regretted having second guessed myself in the first place and went to the other session. I know that the other session probably would have went better without the technical difficulties. However, it's better to have hard times in happy place, and session one seemed like Disneyland.

  4. I felt very frustrated but at the same time, I understand that this was not the presenters fault, but in fact the server.

Although I do feel that he could have at least given more thorough instruction, I felt a little overwhelmed by all the things that went wrong.
