The short version: Head a little north of the hotel, turn west on Taylor Street and walk until you hit the Cronkite School's entrance along Central Avenue (the southwest corner of the building). Taylor becomes a pedestrian mall for the last block.
Here's the secret to maximizing shade on the walk: The entrance to the hotel's parking structure cuts from Third Street to Second Street. Take advantage of this, exiting on Second Street. It allows you to walk a block west and a good chunk of your walk north in the shade.
We will start our opening reception promptly at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments and building tours starting in the second-floor First Amendment Forum. You will need to check in with the security guard in our building's lobby. He or she will have your name. Take the elevator to the second floor, make a left and you can't miss us.
Dress for all institute events is casual. What constitutes casual is up to you.
NEWS FLASH: From The Arizona Republic ...
Unseasonably cool temperatures are expected to continue through the weekend and into early next week, Phoenix National Weather Service officials said.
Temperatures Thursday should reach near 92 degrees for a high and about 68 degrees for the evening low. Sunny daytime conditions are forecast to give way to partly cloudy skies in the evening. Friday should bring mostly sunny skies and similar temperatures. The forecast is a high of 93 degrees and low of 71 and mostly clear evening skies.
Highs in the low to mid-90s are forecast for about the next week, making it possible to extend the current six-day streak of sub-100-degree highs, the National Weather Service said.
